Leaving a gift in your Will to a cause you believe in really is passing on something incredible and helps your memory live on. A gift in your Will, however small or large, can help ensure we can always be here for animals and people in need. Our animal rescues work alongside our service users through a unique intervention that creates a circular relationship between the environment, animals and people we support. This is a huge part of helping rehabilitate our rescues ready to find their new home and educating young people about animal welfare, whilst improving their own mental health and well-being. Your gift will support this vital work to continue and ensure Hugs is here for our community for years to come. Your gift could help in so many ways. It could:

Having a Will means you make the decisions on where your money and assets go, ensuring that your wishes, and the people and causes you care about, are provided for. Did you know – over half the UK population of adults (including parents) DO NOT have a Will and many have one that is out of date!

How Erik's Memory is Living on Through Hugs
Air Vice-Marshal Sir Erik Peter Bennett KBE, CB, CVO was a Royal Air Force officer and fighter pilot who worked and lived in the middle east for 45 years. In that time, he grew very fond of donkeys, seeing just how hard working they were and their willingness to create partnerships with humans. With his historic love of these animals, Erik very kindly decided to leave a legacy in his Will to support better welfare for donkeys, enabling his fond memories of donkeys to live on. The Hugs Foundation are incredibly thankful to have been one of the chosen charities to receive a donation for our work in equine welfare. Erik’s exceptionally kind donation, through his Will, will help us to care for the donkeys we have here at Hugs and continue our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome more equines in need.
This is the first gift we have received through a Will, and we wanted to honour Erik’s memory to live on at Hugs and so we have started a memory tree walk to ensure his name and memory will be seen by all for years to come. We hope to add to this area with more memory trees with each gift we receive through Wills. When you are making your Will, we understand you want to first look after your family and friends. However, you may also wish to consider helping us to secure the future of our vital work in animal welfare and human well-being. Many charities rely heavily on legacy funding, which makes up 50% of some charities income.
