Welcome to Hugs
KINDNESS. DIGNITY. RESPECT. HELPING PEOPLE & ANIMALS.
The Hugs Foundation is a rescue and rehabilitation charity for horses, ponies and donkeys that have been mistreated, abandoned or unwanted. We are proud to be a member of the National Equine Welfare Council (NEWC) and the Equine Assisted Services Partnership CiC.
Hugs also provides well-being support to children, young people, the elderly, military personnel and veterans to improve their health and well-being. Situated in a unique and nurturing environment, we support a range of needs including; social, emotional, physical and mental ill health (e.g. anxiety, depression, PTSD and physical disabilities), those who have experience trauma, abuse and neglect, low self-esteem, learning and developmental needs, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), social isolation, reengaging with education, life transitions, self-harm and those at risk of suicide.
We aim to support recovery from trauma, improve resilience, teach coping mechanisms and coping strategies for lifelong impact through therapeutic learning and animal assisted services. Our services are delivered by a team of professionally qualified, experienced staff.
We also visit care homes to support well-being outside of the rescue centre’s facilities and attend community events and schools to help educate on animal welfare and well-being.
