Exciting news here at Hugs! We have been awarded £6,718 from the awesome The National Lottery Community Fund to continue our youth well-being project, Hugs Helping Hands. This project is in huge demand and we are extremely grateful to receive this funding for us to support more young people in need.
Hugs Helping Hands supports children and young people through a unique intervention that creates a circular relationship between the environment, rescue animals and people we support. Our ‘Hugs community’ is inclusive, safe, caring, nurturing and kind for both animals and people. We support a huge range of complex needs including; social, emotional, physical and mental ill health, trauma and abuse, reduced or non-school attendance, SEND, social isolation, bereavement, self-harm and suicide ideation.
A young person now being referred to the NHS for mental health support every 30 seconds. With overwhelming pressure on mental health services and many traditional talk therapies being ineffective or inappropriate for young people, our charity is helping fill a vital gap to support those in need with this unique project. We are also one of the first organisations to be accepted onto the HEIR register, evidencing that we are operating credible, high quality, safe and ethical practice standards for our service provision for both animals and people 🐴🥰
