Equine Emergency. We Need You!

Equine Emergency. We Need You!

This is the biggest crisis Hugs has ever faced and we urgently need your help. RIGHT NOW, there are animals that are desperately in need of rescue, but our funding and staff are stretched to the limit.

There are NO grants for Charities to claim for existing workers’ wages who are crucial to care for our animals, reach our vulnerable participants and keep our Charity running during these uncertain times. We are reaching out to help the community through A Daily Hug via Facebook Live but now we need your help.

We realise these are tough times for everyone but if you can support us and are able to donate, please help us to continue our life saving work for both horses and humans.

With you by our side we can make these lifesaving changes and continue our incredible story.

To donate click on the link. We appreciate every single donation but if you are able to support us monthly it will help make our future sustainable and enable us to reach more animals and humans in need. Thank you 💚

Charities facing ‘absolutely disastrous’ situation of being forced to close permanently over coronavirus

ITV reports that Charities are facing ‘absolutely disastrous’ situation of being forced to close permanently over the coronavirus. Sadly this is the case for many Charities including The Hugs Foundation. We rely on income from our well-being interventions, which we have had to stop, and donations from our supporters.

Hugs Launches Hugs TV ‘A Daily Hug’ Via Facebook Live

Hugs Launches Hugs TV ‘A Daily Hug’ Via Facebook Live

Hugs is determined to carry on its mission to help animal and human welfare and well-being and keep everyone in touch with the Charity during these difficult times. Therefore, we are launching ‘Hugs TV’s A Daily Hug’ via Facebook Live.

This involves 1-2 posts a day at approximately 9am and 2pm (depending on what’s happening on the yard) that will go live to keep our stakeholders and much valued supporters engaged and give you something to do and look forward to whilst you are stuck at home.

One post will be with the rescue animals (including their new foal, Primrose!), continuing to tell their stories, show how they are all being cared for and set challenges and fun questions to give you all something to keep you busy e.g. here’s our new baby foal, do you know how long horses are pregnant for?

The second post will be either a challenge or activity that individuals and families can do in your own homes and gardens e.g. a bug hunt, recording what is in the garden and researching to identify what the bugs are and how they benefit the environment.

Hugs hopes that this will help keep people positive and give you some things to do that could perhaps also be helpful with the lack of school and improve social inclusion whilst adhering to the social distancing restrictions. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page, share with your friends and family, get involved and join in the fun!

Our staff are dedicated to our animals, participants in Hugs well-being programmes and our much-valued supporters. We will continue to reach people by whatever means that we can and care for and rehabilitate our rescue horses.

From all at Hugs “Stay safe, be kind to yourselves and one another and always remember, 💚KINDNESS💚DIGNITY💚RESPECT💚.”

⚠️IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM HUGS RE COVID-19⚠️

⚠️IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM HUGS RE COVID-19⚠️

The Coronavirus isn’t just affecting one type of person or business, it is affecting absolutely everyone in some shape or form. We have come to the very difficult decision to close our doors on a temporary basis, to our well-being interventions, events, public visits and visits off-site. Sadly, for Hugs (as a small Charity), this has impacted us already because our income has reduced dramatically and therefore, we have had to put a plan in place that reflects the speed at which the matter is escalating to ensure that the Charity does all it can to survive.

The Government is working to help everyone, but sadly Charities are so far, not on their radar. This has meant we have had to lay off (temporarily) nearly half our staff and reduce working hours and wages for others. We are absolutely heartbroken having to do this as this impact those we support who desperately need our help, but we have no other choice, we have to survive so we can continue to help both horses and humans.

We are extremely concerned about the impact that this will have on our vulnerable children and adults and everyone’s well-being in general. As we are social beings, lack of social interaction will have a detrimental effect on everyone’s well-being. For our children and vulnerable adults, it will be devastating as many face extremely difficult family situations already and have complex mental health needs.

Hugs is determined to carry on its mission to help animal and human welfare and well-being and keep everyone in touch with the Charity. Therefore, we will be posting two social media posts a day – one for our animal welfare side so you can see all our lovely rescues and follow their stories and the second to reach our children and other followers to help with their well-being during this unsettling time. You will see videos, daily challenges and activity ideas that can be carried out in your home and garden.

Our staff are dedicated to our animals, participants in Hugs well-being programmes and our much-valued supporters. We will continue to reach people by whatever means that we can and care for and rehabilitate our rescue horses.

From all at Hugs stay safe and be kind to yourselves and one another.

In the meantime, meet Primrose, a little bundle of joy in these difficult times.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update – Hugs Is Still Providing Mental Well-Being Interventions

Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update – Hugs Is Still Providing Mental Well-Being Interventions

At this current time, Hugs is continuing to open for its mental well-being sessions (especially as they are needed now more than ever). We are following Government guidelines and will be continually reassessing the situation and complying with updated Government advice and/or imposed restrictions. We are however, cancelling all events, visits to our care homes and other non-essential meetings.

We have hand gel stationed around the farm and are asking that everyone washes their hands when arriving and leaving Hugs, after going to the bathroom and touching the animals.

We have a questionnaire that is being sent to all our participants and those that may have been in contact with the virus or are at high risk of contracting it to not attend site.

If you are unsure or worried about attending, please contact the team via email, phone or social media. We will keep you updated of any changes.

Our priority is keeping people safe and looking after peoples well-being and our horses and ponies.

Please look after each other and prove humanity is supportive, kind and caring.
