Emergency – Herd of Orphan Foals in Need of Rescue!

Emergency – Herd of Orphan Foals in Need of Rescue!

On Monday 9th October at 10am ,we are launching an emergency Crowdfunding campaign as we have been asked to rescue 12 orphan foals who are otherwise sadly destined to be shot. The heartbreaking reality is that without your support and Hugs expert care, they will die.

The foal in the photo has already arrived at Hugs as an emergency rescue. She is just weeks old and absolutely tiny, smaller than our collie dog. We are all very concerned for her and desperately need everyone’s help to change her very short and distressing life. Without your support and Hugs expert care, sadly this foal will die in this condition. Unfortunately, she is very poorly from being away from her mum. She is dehydrated, has suspected pneumonia, skin infections and is covered in fly eggs and ticks. It is one of the most shocking cases we have seen, especially for something so precious and at such a young age. She will need round the clock care to save her life and the next 24 hours will be crucial. We promise to do everything we can to help her.

It costs between £700 and £1,100 to initially rescue each orphan foal. We need your kind donations so we can give them a fighting chance. With the help from your support and the Hugs team, orphaned foals will not face death this winter, but love, kindness and expertise from our team and a secure future.

We have the space and expertise to take them in but sadly, due to a huge decline in funding for animal welfare charities, we need funding to enable us to pay for their intake costs.

We need to raise at least £11,000 to enable us to rescue this little herd and secure their futures. With the help of our supporters and raising this money, we will be able to take these babies in and give them the specialist diet and care they need to grow into healthy ponies and find their forever homes.

As one of our long-standing supporters could you pledge a donation to help us reach our target? You can either choose to donate or you can choose a donation in exchange for a reward, one of which includes naming a foal and a VIP visit to meet them!

We understand how difficult times are for everyone and that it is a huge ask from our supporters but with everyone’s kindness and support we can reach this target and save these foals lives.

The Crowdfunder link is below to donate. Please help share the campaign as the more people that see it, the more likely we are to reach our target and save these lives.

Success for the National Lottery’s People’s Project Funding!

Success for the National Lottery’s People’s Project Funding!

We are absolutely over the moon to announce that we have been awarded a whopping £59,844 from The National Lottery Community Fund’s People’s Projects! This will enable us to run our youth well-being project for a whole year and support 150 children, young people and their families whilst helping our rescue animals too. Thank you so much to everyone who voted, shared and got involved with the campaign, we cannot thank you enough for making this dream a reality!

The funding also means that we can employ another part time Youth Well-Being Facilitator to meet demand for our well-being sessions! If you are interested in the role, please email us on laura@hugsfoundation.org.uk for further details.
